- All the libraries in NYC are free and welcoming to all. All are comfortable and cool (you may want to bring a light jacket, as many places are over-cooled in this city! Free wifi (unsecured), plugs, and bathrooms. Very good chairs! You can reserve quiet seats and meeting rooms in some libraries. People like the 2nd floor here. It's quiet but there are many tourists here due to the grandness of the building and exhibits, so don't leave your belongings unattended. You need to be quiet, and eat outside (wonderful park and plazas on this block)

- In addition to the Green Map Archive, which is housed in the Map Room, there is an outstanding collection of books and materials! The librarians are very helpful, and they offer surprising services to all with a library card (free). Many NYPLs have social workers as they welcome homeless or distressed people who might need extra help.
